Wayne's World of Paintball Gets Extension in Ocala

Wayne's World of Paintball Inc. has received a 90-day extension from the city of Ocala's Code Enforcement Department, allowing the 30-year-old business to continue operating through the end of December at its location on South Pine Avenue.

Code Enforcement Extension

The extension was granted during a Sept. 10 hearing. Owner Jackie Dollack has been working since October 2025 to correct violations cited by Code Enforcement, according to the Ocala Gazette. The business has obtained the necessary electrical and plumbing permits to complete required work.

"We've been taking buildings down, left and right, and trying to put up some structures that would be acceptable," Dollack said. "There always seems to be more. I think it went very well. The Haunted Trail — we're going to work on this weekend. Every Sunday, paintball will continue as long as they allow it. They haven't made us give it up yet."

Paintball activities will continue every Sunday at the location at 4841 S. Pine Ave in Ocala. The venue has been a popular spot for paintball enthusiasts in Marion County for more than three decades. The business operates with a volunteer staff and has built a loyal following among local paintball players of all skill levels, from beginners trying the sport for the first time to experienced players who participate in regular games and special events.

Annual Haunted Trail Returns

The venue is preparing for its annual Nightmare on Pine Street Haunted Trail, scheduled for three weekends in October: Oct. 9-10, 16-17, and 23-24. The event draws more than 5,000 visitors annually, making it one of the largest Halloween attractions in Marion County.

The haunted trail has become a fall tradition for many families in the Ocala area. Visitors navigate through spooky settings created on the paintball field property, experiencing a carefully designed haunted trail that has grown in popularity over the years.

A volunteer planning meeting was held Sept. 19 at the venue. Those interested in volunteering can visit the organization's Facebook page or waynes-world.com. Community Impact

The Haunted Trail has a significant charitable component that sets it apart from typical Halloween attractions. A portion of proceeds, after expenses, goes to the Marion County Toys for Tots program and Cathy's Kids, a Christmas program for underserved children hosted by Ocala Fire Rescue.

Past donations have ranged from $12,000 to $20,000 annually over at least 20 years, making it one of the larger local fundraising events for these charitable causes. Patrick Joynt, coordinator for Toys for Tots in Marion County, said the Haunted Trail donations have been crucial for the program, helping provide toys to hundreds of local children during the holiday season.

Uncertain Future

This could be the final year of operation for Wayne's World of Paintball. Dollack noted that the lease expires at the end of December and the acreage may be sold to another buyer, though no closing date has been set.

Jennipher Buller, chief code official, stated during the Sept. 10 hearing that she has been in touch with Henry Priest, whose family owns the acreage. The property has been for sale but no closing date is set.
